Fine Art Oil Painter

Jane, a private pilot, and her first husband, a commercial pilot, traveled to many parts of the world while living in Japan and Iran. Jane studied fine art in Japan, Iran, New Jersey and San Francisco. To experience the people, their culture and their art, was an unforgettably enriching experience. When the Shaw of Iran was overthrown, Jane and her family left Iran, and moved back to the United States near New York.

Jane was widowed in 1985 when her husband was killed in a plane crash. As a single mother of two teenagers, Jane returned to her roots and family in Denver.

In Denver Jane continued to pursue her passion for fine art. As a member of the Art Students League she studied with Doug Dawson, Jerry Dela Cruz, Mark Daily, Quang Ho and Kevin Wechback. She has shown in a variety of shows and galleries, and won several awards.

Artist Statement

An art instructor once told me that I should paint lots of small paintings. He believed a serious artist must paint at least 1,000 paintings before they get the big picture. No pun intended.

The more I paint and learn, the more there is to learn. Art is complex!
In addition to skill and talent, the study demands intellectual discipline and commitment. Thankfully, because of my passion for art, there is infinite pleasure in the process. As a serious artist, I strive to make the difficult and complex become beautiful and spontaneous. My desire is to speak through my art on an intimate and unique level. Intimate because people respond to art on an emotional level. Unique because each of us responds to art based on a unique set of life's experiences.

I enjoy plein air painting. I find it to be challenging and instructive. Aided with many photos taken on location, many of my plein air studies are the basis for paintings that I finish in my studio.

It is my passion, as a skilled artist, to utilize both the intimate and unique visual language to charm, intrigue, compel and reveal on a personal level. To enrich people's lives with beauty and pleasure is for me, a meaningful, honorable, and incredible enjoyably life long pursuit.
